This cranberry orange sauce is fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced with sweet and tart flavors. Made with simple ingredients in just minutes, it’s far better than canned and perfect for holiday meals, brunch, or everyday use.
In a medium saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
Add cranberries and return to a simmer.
Cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
Stir in orange zest, orange juice, and a pinch of salt.
Remove from heat and allow to cool. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving for best flavor and texture.
Notes
-Adjust sugar based on your preferred sweetness level. -Do not overcook. Remove from heat once cranberries burst for best texture. -Sauce thickens as it cools and chills. -Fresh orange zest adds the most flavor.
