Optional: lemon slices and extra basil for garnish
Instructions
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup water, sugar, and basil leaves. Bring to a gentle simmer and stir until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let steep for 10–15 minutes.
Strain the basil leaves from the syrup and allow it to cool.
In a large pitcher, add fresh lemon juice and the cooled basil syrup.
Pour in 3–4 cups cold water and stir well.
Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness if needed.
Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices and fresh basil.
